“Youth Sports Brain Injuries: More Questions than Answers”, will be presented on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 7:00-8:30 PM, in the Shaw J.C.C. auditorium, 750 White Pond Dr., Akron, OH 44320. There will be a question and answer session following the presentation, and audience members are encouraged to participate.
Topics the doctor will explore include the importance of parents and coaches recognizing the warning signs of concussion, the different types of concussion and emerging new science on how they should be treated, and the long-term effects of brain injuries.
Dr. Congeni is well-known both locally and nationally, and has been honored with The Ohio Athletic Trainer’s Association Team Physician of the Year Award, the Ohio State Medical Association’s Outstanding Team Physician Award, and the OHSAA Respect the Game Award.
The doctor’s many media appearances include the NBC TV Today Show , Akron-area NPR radio affiliate, WKSU, and a weekly sports medicine segment onWAKR-AM radio. He is also featured in a film documentary about concussions in high school Football, called “The Smartest Team”.
